Some volunteering opportunities for the Brooklyn Half (Saturday, May 17, 2014):

NYRR Club Council Management wrote:Hey Club Team Reps,

The Brooklyn Half is one of our most challenging races to recruit volunteers for and over 500 volunteers are needed in the Start and Baggage zones. In an effort to meet the numbers we need for this race, we are reaching out to our most loyal and experienced runners, The Club Teams, and offering a very special and unique opportunity. For runners who are willing to arrive early and volunteer their time prior to running, we are offering two volunteer positions:
  • Baggage Check-In Volunteer
  • Start Corral Marshal*
*As a Start Corral Marshall, you may be assigned to work at a corral you are not seeded in and will therefore run in that corral.

Volunteering for either of these special opportunities will allow you to:
  • Run the race (and receive credit towards your 9 races)
  • Receive your +1 Volunteer Credit
  • !!AND earn a guaranteed entry for the 2015 Brooklyn Half!!
The jobs are posted separately on the Volunteer sign-up page, so you can sign up by your wave and will be at the bottom of the list of Brooklyn volunteer opportunities. If you have any questions, please email volunteers@nyrr.org.
  • Wave 1 Baggage Volunteers check in inside the Brooklyn Museum Parking Lot 4:15 am and will be released to head to Wave 1 corrals at 6:20 am when Wave 1 baggage closes. Wave 1 corrals close at 6:40 am and the Wave 1 start is at 7:00 am.
  • Wave 2 Baggage Volunteers check in inside the Brooklyn Museum Parking Lot 4:15 am and will be released to head to Wave 2 corrals at 7:10 am when Wave 2 baggage closes. Wave 2 corrals close at 7:20 am and the Wave 2 start is at 7:45 am.
  • Wave 1 Start Corral Marshals check in inside the Brooklyn Museum Parking Lot at 5 am. The corrals open at 6 am. You will marshal the corral until they are closed at 6:40 am, and join that corral to run in Wave 1.
  • Wave 2 Start Corral Marshals check in inside the Brooklyn Museum Parking Lot at 5 am. The corrals open at 6 am. You will marshal the corral until they are closed at 7:20 am, and join that corral to run in Wave 2.
Please reach out to your team members who are running and let them know of this awesome (rare) opportunity and urge them to sign up as soon as possible.

Thanks very much,
